Become a CEYA Artist
Join our Pool of Artist Contractors!
Part of CEYA's mission is to support practicing, professionals in the arts. CEYA accepts applications from qualified visual and performing artists working in a variety of media on an ongoing basis. Media examples include textiles, music, writing, painting, poetry, theater, choral dance/movement, and others.
Selected artists lead innovative private and community projects for frail older adults, and for elders and youth. Projects are designed and implemented in collaboration with CEYA Artistic Director, Jeff Chapline. Artists who are residents of San Francisco and who have good transportation are preferred, unless a request has been posted for outlying areas.
Payment & Hours
Artist contract pay for classroom and workshop instruction with elders and youth is $44 per hour and $66 per 1.5 hour session. Artist pay for non-classroom work, such as framing, exhibition installation, project trainings and meetings, is $20 per hour.
Application Process
The application process is competitive. It is recommended that applicants have three years professional experience in their media reflected by exhibitions, productions, performances, publications, etc. CEYA is particularly interested in Chinese, Spanish and Russian speaking artists, who also speak English. African American artists are encouraged to apply.
Interested candidates should send CEYA a professional resume (with dates), quality samples of your work, current press clippings, etc. Please include a completed Artist Proposal Application Form with your package. No phone calls or drop-ins accepted. Thank you for your interest!
